Crimar Industrial: Mastering the Art of Large Diameter Fiberglass Tanks Fabrication and Installation

Crimar Industrial, a pioneering industry leader, has been devoted to the design, fabrication, and installation of large-diameter fiberglass tanks for over three decades. Our client portfolio is as expansive as our experience, with global companies such as FLSmidth, Glencore, M3 Engineering, Technip, Hatch Engineering, Biorem, CODELCO, Freeport-McMoRan, WesTech, SNC Lavalin, and many others frequently partnering with us. We've been integral in supplying equipment and services for projects spanning North and South America, Africa, China, Australia, the Philippines, and Eastern Europe.

When it comes to large tanks exceeding DN4500mm in diameter, transportation can pose a challenge. However, Crimar offers two solutions:

  1. The tank is fabricated in our shop, obligated, and then shipped to the site for assembly.

  2. Alternatively, we can fabricate the tank directly at the customer's project site using a field winder.

Oblating fiberglass tanks, a practice originating in North America in the 1960s and popularized in the 1970s offers several advantages. The controlled shop environment guarantees a higher quality product, unhindered by weather conditions such as wind, rain, or direct sunlight. In comparison, on-site winding often necessitates temporary structures to shield the tank from the weather. Oblated tanks also reduce on-site labor time and cost significantly, streamline project schedules, and minimize time lost due to unfavorable weather.

Field winding large tanks, on the other hand, also comes with benefits. It lowers shipping costs, requires fewer joints for the tank body (provided the height is within 12m), and ensures quicker delivery for batching fiberglass tanks of the same diameter.

Crimar maintains stringent manufacturing site requirements to ensure the best possible outcome. For instance, a flat and hard ground is needed for winder placing and appropriate space.

Our process adheres to globally recognized fiberglass standards, including ASME RTP-1, ASTM D 3299, ASTM D 4097, ASTM D 2996, ASTM D 2310, ASTM D 5421, EN 13121, EN 4994, and EN 5480. We choose corrosion-resistant resins and fiberglass materials based on the operating environment of the tanks. These can range from high-temperature or fire-retardant epoxy vinyl ester to polyester with high corrosion resistance.

We also utilize a variety of glass reinforcements like roving, mat, woven roving, and surfacing veils along with additives such as antimony trioxide, silica carbide, and ultraviolet ray inhibitors to enhance the performance and durability of our products.

In conclusion, Crimar Industrial stands as a beacon of quality and innovation in the large-diameter fiberglass tank fabrication industry. With our expertise, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to excellence, we continue to deliver solutions that exceed our clients' expectations.
